Digital Media Product Expert (mobile & Social Media)

This sales expert is responsible for managing and overseeing sales, fulfillment and all tasks associated with social and mobile advertising. Examples of social media tools include facebook, twitter, youtube, myspace and blogs, networks, wikis/collaborative software, podcasts. Examples of mobile platforms include text, mobile banners, apps on smart phones and tablets.
The staffer is responsible for generating new and incremental revenue from existing advertisers as well as new businesses singularly or in conjunction with The Chronicle retail and classified sales teams. This position requires excellent needs analysis and strategic thinking skills; proposal writing, analytical comprehension, listening, communication and interaction skills. Active follow up and a great attention to detail is also required.


EDUCATION: BA or BS College Degree

EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING: Strong knowledge of the Internet and experience in calling on local business for sales generation. Strong understanding of online marketing, advertising, creative development, direct response marketing online, and the ability to analyze and report data. Publishing experience is a plus. Should be familiar with professional training techniques. Experience using MS excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint. SEO and PPC campaign experience preferred

This sales position works in a field that is in a constant state of change. Successful applicants will be very flexible, multi task oriented, highly organized, and able to work with a number of products to sell both internally to traditional representatives and externally to customers.

MANUAL OR MOTOR (MACHINE) OPERATIONS: Valid drivers license and insurance records are required quarterly.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in and environment dominated with computers and under daily deadline pressure with a variety of duties.


Conduct sales calls in tandem with reps or independently to generate advertising revenue specifically in the products of social media and mobile advertising

Achieve revenue goals assigned for mobile and social advertising

Assist the retail and classified sales teams in developing and closing new business prospects to include field work and assisting in the creation of sales proposals

Conduct product training for retail and classified sales teams

Serve as go to person for questions and concerns raised by reps, managers and customers for all things social media and mobile advertising

Stay up to date on emerging trends in social media and mobile advertising by reading industry articles, talking with experts at MDW and elsewhere

Generate leads by watching competitive media and brainstorming with reps and managers

Have a thorough understanding of all digital products so can assist in the field with sales efforts
