Digital First Media Sales Vice President

Morris Publishing Group, a division of Morris Communications Company, is making a basic change of strategic direction in 2011, turning itself from a print-first newspaper company into a digital-first media company. Our goal -- shatter internal digital sales barriers and increase our digital sales a minimum of 27% per year. We are looking for an individual who has the skills, experience and savvy to be the chief architect, leader, guide and metrics monitor of this groundbreaking, digital-first sales initiative.
This is a top-level corporate position overseeing advertising sales for 13 daily newspapers and 28 non-daily publications. The Digital First Sales Leader will oversee, guide and monitor all ongoing non-digital sales efforts, seeking an optimum balance between sustaining traditional sales and growing digital sales.

Do you have:
Proven high effectiveness in digital sales management, producing strong digital sales growth in a traditional media sales environment?
An exceptional history of success in overcoming print-based, tradition-based and process-based internal obstacles to digital sales?
Extensive experience with and success in managing non-digital sales teams and activities?
A record of success in sales organization-building creating, modifying and rebuilding structures and processes to achieve higher sales performance?
A proven practice of developing strong customer relationships within the organization, earning high confidence from key players at business units (e.g., publishers and advertising directors) as well as with corporate peers?
A metrics- and results-based approach to sales management, tracking key measures of sales activity, conversion rates, retention and growth in active accounts and applying these metrics to improve sales performance?
The ability to make or exceed sales targets through inspiring leadership, performance metrics and well-conceived compensation and incentive plans?
A record of success in staff development, individual and team performance improvement and retention of high-performing personnel?
