Every year, across the country, local chapters of the Home Builders Association (HBA) and the Building Industry Association (BIA) host the Parade of Homes. This is a prime opportunity to boost ad sales in your real estate section by suggesting that agents become involved in this beloved community event.

The Parade of Homes allows community members to tour a group of newly built homes in the area. It’s a great time for both prospective home-buyers and home-builders to discover the latest in building, design and decorating techniques.

Spring is typically a great time to host the Parade of Homes. Whether it’s community members who just want to look at the beautiful new houses, or it’s someone that is ready to buy their next home, more people will be apt to participate if it is held during the warm and sunny days. So, as spring approaches, make sure you find out when your community’s next Parade of Homes is taking place so you and your clients can become involved.

Typically, in the past, real estate agents have sat on the sidelines of the Parade of Homes. However, you can prove yourself as a valuable resource to clients or potential clients by telling them the benefits of participating in the Parade.

The Parade of Homes usually donates any proceeds to the HBA, BIA or the National Association of Home Builders’ philanthropic organization, the National Housing Endowment. The National Housing Endowment offers scholarships to students who plan to study building or construction-related fields, offers training programs to home-builder professionals, and promotes the use of new technologies in order to improve safety in new homes.

Therefore, association with the Parade of Homes can act as great press and publicity for real estate agents in the area by proving that they care about the future of home building.  Likewise, if you are the one to suggest that agents become involved in this positive event, you will demonstrate your worth as a trusted and knowledgeable figure in the field.

Suggest that both current and potential real estate clients get involved in their local Parade of Homes this year. If they are already associated with one of the homes that will be participating in the Parade, suggest that the agent should be actively present at the event. Make sure they have their sign on the front lawn, as well as flyers and business cards inside the home.

If they are not associated with any of the homes in the Parade, make sure to illuminate the ways they can become involved. Tell agents to invest in advertising space at various homes on the tour, as well as space on the local Parade of Homes website. That way, when a visitor goes to the site to plan out their travel route for the day, they will see that agent’s picture and business information.

Tell agents to do more than merely advertising at the event. Their physical presence at the Parade is valuable as well. Their expertise in the industry can benefit those visiting the homes and the home-builders. Suggest that agents make arrangements with home-builders so they can set up camp at one of the homes, learn all of the valuable information about that particular home and then offer detailed tours to visitors.

By suggesting their involvement in this year’s Parade of Homes, real estate agents will demonstrate their experience and knowledge of the industry to both home-builders who want to showcase their house in the best light, but also potential home-buyers who may want to work with that agent in the near future. By offering this valuable advice to agents in the area, you are also proving yourself as a trusted figure with knowledge of the industry. While agents in the area build existing relationships and create new ones, your real estate section may have just found its next advertiser.
