Boat Advertising: Tips for writing a boat ad

“SELL THE BOAT AND THE EXPERIENCE.”
To sell a boat you need to, of course, showcase the boat but you also need to sell the experience of boating. The best way to do this is with detailed photos and descriptive words.

TIPS FOR TAKING A GOOD PHOTO

Strive to get a photo that is as close to the boat as possible, but still capturing the entire hull. Remember, you’re selling the boat, not the scenery.

However, when trying to photograph a sailboat, don’t worry about including the full height of the mast.

Take photos in full sun, usually early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Take many different shots from a variety of angles — you can always throw away a shot that doesn’t work. Photograph as much of the boat as possible.

Photograph any of the important details  that are going to be highlighted in the  written description.

Try to get an action shot while the boat is underway, if possible, instead of just sitting still or tied to a dock.

TIPS FOR WRITING A GOOD AD

A GOOD AD SHOULD INCLUDE:
Boat Class
Boat Model
Boat Description
Boat Engine
Boat Transmission
Boat Drive Type
Boat Doors
Boat Fuel Type
Exterior/Interior Color

List the important, selling points first. Highlighting anything that makes the boat unique.

Use bullet points when providing a list of details. They’re easier to read and can capture a reader’s attention.

Always accentuate the positives.

Include as many specifications as you know or can fit. These should include the engine, transmission type, boat class, boat model, hull material, etc.

Proof your ad for any spelling mistakes.

Remember the key to selling anything is to sell the benefits. Capture the essence of the boat and its experience, and you are sure to catch someone’s attention.
